Carp Spearing and Bowhunting

This really isn't my thing, but I know somepeople really enjoy it. If you're one of them, I'd take your boat, your lights and your killing instruments into Parks Bay on Okauchee.

There's a bunch of big fish holding in there right now.

If you're of a more conventional fishing approach, one way to have a few laughs is to catch big carp on light tackle. Here's an old standby trick. Go to the store and by two cans of cheap corn.

Drive the boat until you see some carp, back off a bit, then throw several handfuls of corn out over a wide area. Then wait, when you see the weeds start to move, put a few kernels of corn on a hook with some heavy weight (some people will use nightcrawlers) and chuck it out right into the middle of the mass. Then hold on.

I do this once or twice a season for a few laughs. Battling big carp on light tackle is an amazingly good time and suprisingly easy way to catch a monster sized fish.
