Monday Update: fishing report

Well gang, looks like there's some more snow on the way. I don't know about you, but I've had my fill this year.

The good news is that the rivers are likely to be very high this spring, which means good solid walleye runs if winter ever ends.

As for the fishing, there's not much to report that's new. The big thing is that the pike are starting to move shallower, and the marshy areas are starting to produce consistently.

This is the time to go big. Pike will stage in the marshy areas and bays for a short spell before they begin to spoanw under the ice. if you are catching fish right now, you're very likely near a pretty good pod. Spread out your setups, and use the biggest shiners you can get (Musky mikes has Jumbos in right now). you won't be fishing very deep, so you have to be johnny on the spot when the tip up gets triggered.

Panfish are scattered shallow and deep, the best fish seem to be coming off breaks in 18-22feet of water.

I'm off to Texas to do a little fishing this week, so there probably won't be a report on Friday. best thing to do would be to stop into the shop for the latest information.

Cheers
CT
