Monday Update 8-25-08

First, a couple of notes.

1.) Our Canada Trip dates are changing. We have the opportunity to get on a better lake and more information will be coming as soon as finalize the deal with the outfitter.

2.)This is the last Tuesday for Big Bass League this Season.

Fishing Report

The cooler nights are changing the water conditions. Fish are starting to feed mid-morning and the late afternoon.

Bass are still being caught in the same locations as last week, but look for them to start using rocky areas heavily over the next 30 days. Small crawfish colored crankbaits can be the best bait in your box.

Walleye are deep. Yesterday I was marking schools of them in 28-32 feet of water, although the fish that were biting (although lightly) were in 22-25 feet. I would stick to lindy rigs or split shot setups with large live bait for the time being.

Northern Pike are beginning to patrol the shallow flats and weedlines. Its still early, but lipless cranbaits and jerkbaits can really produce during the next seasonal phase.

Musky are still being caught by trollers, but some are still take on topwaters ear weededges and weedy points, although this bite is slowing down.

Good Luck,
CT
