Sorry for the delay, the fishing has been so good, I was reluctant to sit down at the computer. I'll go lake by lake for this installment. Its time to fish, and all the areas lakes have some action. This list represents the hotspots this past week.
Okauchee: Bay 5, Icehouse and Stumpy continue to produce a mixed bag of crappies and northerns. look for green weeds away from the pack of people in 6-10 feet of water. Crappies are biting on jigs tipped with waxies or spikes and small minnows, the pike are being taken on tipups with large and jumbo shiners.
Golden: Bluegills, Bluegills, Bluegills! Fish the breaks with jigs/waxies/spikes/wigglers.
The Genessee Triplets: Panfish and a few northerns have been coming in this past week. Anglers on lower report taking a few trout this past week as well on minnows.
Pewaukee: Super RED hot for walleyes! Fish the weed flats in 5-8 feet of water. Lots of big fish. Shiners and suckers on a trebele with a mono leader below the tip up. Setup for light bites.
Pine: Dynamite crappie action the last week, breaks in 8-12 feet of water have been the hotspot.
Rock River backwaters: Anglers reported catching several large, pre-spawn pike out of some of the Rock River Backwaters. If venturing out, be aware of the ice conditions at all times. If you find a pod of fish in one of these areas, you'll be sitting pretty for the fisheree this weekend.
Stop in at the shop for last minute advice!
Good Luck and be safe!
