Gamefish season is closed/Dells open

Gang,

I just wanted to remind everybody that gamefish season on most inland waters is now closed. You can still fish for panfish on any of our local lakes, but the season for bass, walleye, pike and musky will remain closed until the first saturday in May.

Some areas have open season year round. These tend to be rivers, as well as the winnebago system. The Rock River is the closest open season water right now, although it remains pretty iced up.

----

If you are feeling adventurous, the River's Edge resort baot launch appears to be open, and there is open water in the Dells. There's usually a pretty decent early run of walleyes there, and this year should be no exception.
